      Wednesday, Sept 21 may have been the last day of summer, but it was also a day of firsts in the life of Grandma G.

       Gram G became Great Gram G!!

 Meanwhile in northern Wisconsin Berklee and Papa Lou meet for the first time......

Great grandma Rose (Lou's mom) and Berklee meet for the first time....a mere 103 years difference in age...

Berklee, mom Amanda, and Bill dad live in San Diego, CA


They are in Wisconsin for a wedding and a visit to family...

Berklee and Rosalie are west coast cousins a year apart....

Gram G had a busy day, also....

a Sternwheeler cruise on the Columbia River....
that included going through "locks" to a lower flowing river.

Nancy and I had been looking forward to this trip for several weeks...and taking tons of scenic photos....however, I forgot my camera....Nancy had hers all ready to go.....except she hadn't charged the battery...I got a few pictures with my phone camera before the battery gave out.....we later figured out how to take pics on Nancy's older phone....took lots with hers....now she has to take it to her phone provider to find out how to transfer them to other places...
      Hopefully next week there will be those scenic photos we looked forward to....

This has been a good "day of firsts" day in the life of Grandma G.

And now taking Grammy Georgia C. Schmidt to her first comic con this week 🤗🤗🤗Angie Miller

Sam, Frodo and Merry made a surprise visit to Portland, OR on Sat. Sept 10 to attend their first Comic Con.  Pippin was also there but he was officially engaged with meeting his fans and was unable to hang out with his fellow hobbits.

After getting our ID badges we entered the convention hall and met several friends also visiting.

RCCC..... BEHIND THE SCENES..... 

   We were privileged to shake hands with Billy Boyd.  We didn't expect to see him.  Since it cost $50 to have a signed photo or to get a picture with him we didn't plan to do that. 
   When we got to the convention center Billy Boyd was sitting in the open.  There were only a few people in his line.  The contact lady said he was letting folks come and shake his hand and talk a bit.  We were so excited.  
   The embarrassing part is that we were so excited that we said we were Frodo, Sam and Pippin and we were looking for Merry.  Billy quietly said, "I'm Pippin".  OPPS.     I meekly told him Frodo gets a bit mixed up these days.  He was very nice.

A LITTLE MORE BEHIND THE SCENES.....

 So for Gram G's secret project I was going to sew matching brown cloaks for us.  
I bought a pattern for $16....
fortunately it was on sale for $1.99.  And 15 yards of soft 
dark brown material for 3 cloaks.  So measure and cut and measure and cut I did....figured out how to sew again 


Finally got it done....almost..



Decided it was too much pressure and work to make 2 more in the next few days....

Secret project gone awry....now what

One spends an afternoon on Amazon.com and orders a bunch of stuff with a month's free trial of Amazon Prime (for fast and free shipping)

Soon 3 hobbits are ready for their trip to upper earth and Rose City Comic Con....

EVEN MORE BEHIND THE SCENES....

Frodo was first observed visiting Portland almost a year ago when he was spotted traveling through PDX on his way to San Diego.  He said he was on official business to welcome his new descendant in the royal line...
