Ladies' Luncheon/Corned Beef Pot Luck......

...To Lucky House Chinese/American restaurant. On Wednesday I was glad for the company of other ladies and the opportunity to socialize. It is easy for me to get isolated. The day can be very long if I don't get around other people for awhile on most days. It is a blessing that there is something to do almost every day here at Creekside. I am now simply part of the community. It is nice to take walks and have people say hi to me by name. (I'm not that up on others' names.)

The afternoon was so beautiful I needed to going walking---2 miles!   I was disappointed to see that my "view" would soon be blocked by new construction.  I guess that is the way cities do it.

Today, Thursday, was the big corned beef and cabbage pot luck here at Creekside. Yum!   I haven't liked corned beef in the past, but this was very tender and not overly salty.  And lots of sides and desserts.  Yum!   Guess you know what makes us seniors happy.  We didn't have to cook it.

Earlier in the day I went for a walk since the air was so balmy and warm.  A lady about a block away was cleaning out her yard.   I am now the proud owner of 2 barberry bushes and LOTS of dahlia bulbs.  All I need is to find someone to dig holes through the rocks and plastic underlay.   Grandma G's is on the way to landscaping!

This has been a good 2 "out to eat" days in the life of Grandma G.

Dancing in the Rain.....

I figured out how to upload videos.......SOOOOOOOO......I can now present to you.........
                                                The Soon to be Famous.........
                                 DANCING SPIDER!!

Sorry to say I had nothing to do with it's training.  It must be a natural.  He was simply "hanging around".  He is (or was) a native of Park Falls, WI.   My only regret is not letting the video run longer.

Monday was a "well structured" day----part of it, anyway.   I slept in a bit and had time to do morning exercises on my healing right shoulder.  Then it was off to our 2 hour Bible study here in the community.   Afterward I chatted awhile with a lady friend before I realized I had 2 music lessons starting at 1PM.  So it was off to home to get ready and then have the lessons.
It felt really good to be teaching.  I felt happy and "in my element".   I am so eager to get a full schedule going.
Truthfully after that, the "structure" fell apart for the rest of the day.   It was great to have it for a few hours.  I did spend some time learning a new song (not my own) to sing at church in 2 weeks.  Took a half hour walk and did a second set of shoulder exercises.

Tuesday was an orderly, quiet day.  Did some computer work.  The weather was cloudy, but mild so I went for a 2 mile walk.   It seemed to pass quickly and easy.   I wll keep a 4 mile walk as a goal and then participate in an "easy" senior hike when the time is right.

Spent time again doing the shoulder exercises and some stretches while watching TV to see what problems Dr. Mike got herself into and out of on Dr. Quinn, Medicine woman.  She's gotten to be an afternoon regular for me.   (Me thinks I need to get my teaching schedule up and going.)

Daylight Savings Time, Baby!

It's that night of the year I wait for ever since in the autumn when we "fall back".  It is time to "spring ahead"!  We are suppose to do that at 2 AM, but I did at 7PM last evening so I could get some perspective on life.
It takes me a week to adjust to the semi-annual time changes.  This spring one is great. Already this evening I felt more springy with an extra hour of day light.

This has actually been a domestic weekend for me.  Between yesterday and today I cleaned up the kitchen, unpacked my suitcases from Wednesday,  worked a few Sudoku puzzles (medium to hard to one challenger), attended church service Sunday morning, praticed piano, exercised my sore right shoulder 4 times and iced it just as many (twice daily the doc said), washed laundry,  went to Deb's for Sunday dinner and to dry my clothes (keep forgetting I have a broken dryer), and took out the garbage for morning pick up.  A well disciplined and orderly weekend.  That's OK.  OH, yah, I figured out and changed the black ink cartridge in the printer, (big techy project for me).

This has been a good 2 domestic days in the life of Gandma G.

A whole lot cheesy.....

This picture was in the travel magazine of the plane I flew in.
It is very interesting to me because I have 2 things in common with it.  I used to live in Wisconsin and I visited Mt. Rushmore last June.
I also like mild Cheddar cheese, but not 640 lbs of it. Of course, that is 640 lbs not available to eat.

"What do you think, Teddy, do we admire the guy or do you think he is a bit cheesy?"
"Well, Abe, you got to give the fellow credit for be being such a cut up.  You can't be mousy to cut the cheese that way."
"How about you, Thomas, should we be honored that he picked us for his cheesy sculpture?"
"I just smell a rat, Abe."
"Oh, George, you know what they always say, 'Let George do it'. Do you think you could sculpt us that well?"
"I say, once a cheesehead always a cheesehead.  I 'd have rocks in my head if I thought otherwise. We do have a broader view of things, though, Abe.  What do you think?  A penny for your thoughts"
"It's always the same joke about Honest Abe. Honestly, I'd rather have 100 pennies for each ounce of cheese in that 650 lbs of cheeseheads."

My day was a little cheesy, but sunny.  Went to the chiropractor again with my sore right shoulder.  He said shoulders are very difficult to heal out and one needs to keep exercising them to break up the scar tissue that forms.  Ouch.

Spent time getting a lot of nothing done.  Some days go that way.  Did go for a walk and EXERCISED my right shoulder.

Chuck called from Milwaukee this evening.  I forget that they are 2 hours later than me and a whole lot more snowy. It is always fun to talk with Chuck.

This has been a good "cheesy" day in the life of Grandma G.
