Blogger Trouble Still.....

Hello from Grandma G.....

Still having trouble uploading onto Blogger.  Seems to be REALLY SLOW internet connections from here.

            Top 10 highlights of spending 10 days here:

10. Had fun driving around in a mini-van. 
  9. Enjoyed all the trees and birds in the backyard.
  8. Had lunch with a long time friend, Barb.
  7. Drove 2 hours north to Park Falls for the weekend
  6. Visited and hugged Betty J., Nick J., Sandy J., Sally Z., Joe S.         Deanna S. and Grandma Rose (100 years old)
  5.  Angie, Austin and Ryan came up from Oconomowoc.
  4.  Louie, Al, Autumn and Eddy came down from Park Falls.
  3.  Got to interact with Logan, Tyler, Devin, Cory and Josh.
  2. Went to the Mint Cafe for lunch with college student grandson, Josh.  Had good chat time.
  1. Bonded with 5 wonderful grandsons.

     Wednesday it's "Fly west--Pacific Northwest--Grandma G".
 I will be happy to be back home.  It was great visiting here, but VC is "home" now for me.

       This has been a good 4 "bonding with the grandsons" days in the life of Grandma G.

      Today the boys were in school, but we are all a bit "under the weather" with a cold virus.  We are planning to drive to Park Falls for the weekend tomorrow.  Hopefully we will all do just fine.  I think I have Tyler nervous about my driving.  Poor fellow, I think I've aged him 5 years.
         Tyler, Logan and I watched Hook this evening.  Quite a long movie about Peter Pan having grown up and forgotten who he was.  Adventures trying to rescue his children brought it all back to him.  Brought back long forgotten memories to me, too.

       This has been a good "under the weather" day in the life of Grandma G.

Out of Function for Awhile.....

                HELLO FROM GRANDMA G.......

      I am in mid Wisconsin caring for grandsons for a few days.  For some reason I cannot access "new post" to my blog from my laptop.  I can post from another computer but I cannot access my pictures.  Until I can, I will send new posts but NO PICTURES. Oh, Darn. 
     The grandsons are 16, 14, 8 and 6 years old.  All of them well behaved.  They are in school most of the day, except for the 6 year old who threw up early Wed. morning and so stayed home that day.  By evening he said he hoped he was better the next day because being sick wasn't much fun.  He is back to school today.
     I realized a lifelong dream since being here---driving a mini-van.  I wanted one when my children were growing up, but never did have one.  That is what I have to drive the grandsons to where they need to be.  It's a little different now.  I am NOT secure driving in unknown areas and I was NOT secure about trying to drive the mini-van.  BUT, all is well.  EXCEPT the other day when I had to take the 8 year old to play practice on the other side of this small city.  I got lost.  Yes, Grandma G actually got lost.  (Ha, Ha).  Nothing new for Grandma G.  Tyler was quite concerned for me--and for himself--and tried to help me as best he could.  We were only 20 minutes late for the one hour practice.  
    I had lunch the other day with a lady friend of mine.  We were happy to catch up on the latest in each of our lives.  She hopes to come visit me in Vancouver next winter when all is frozen and white here in northern Wisconsin, yet green and simply chilly in southern Washington.    
    We've been eating well.  I have forgotten how much food growing boys can consume.  Yesterday, Tyler (6) had 4 slices of bread with Nuetella for breakfast.  We had a full meal of homemade meatballs with spaghetti for dinner last evening.  Tonight will be easier with finishing left overs.  
    The weather has been sunny and in the 70's--very pleasant--not too cold and not too hot.  The trees are just starting to leaf out and a few spring flowers are appearing.  It is like going back a few months in time compared to the outdoors in VC. 
    While I am here, I am working on obtaining plane tickets for grandson trips this summer, which isn't very far off.  I have a goal of taking each of my grandkids (18) on a trip with me when they are around 12 years old.   There are 2 that turn 12 the next 3 months and one in January.  The plan this time is to bring Jake from Washington to visit Austin in southern Wisconsin for a week.  Then bring them both back to Washington for a week.  I will bring Austin back to WI, connect him with his mom and spend a week in Park Falls before I return alone to VC and REST.  Can it be scheduled and accomplished?  Keep checking in to find out.
    This has been a good 3 "caring for grandsons" days in the life of Grandma G.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOMS.......

 

       I had a wonderful Mother's Day!   Actually, a really great weekend here in central Wisconsin---even with SNOW on Saturday afternoon.  YES, SNOW.....



 

       We also had a huge dumpling feed---not a huge dumpling, rather, a large amount of dumplings--53--for 16 people. 

       Burt called me while I was waiting int the MSP airport to inquire if I would make dumplings on that day--Saturday--instead of Sunday.  I was already quite tired but agreed since he said they would help and I could just supervise.  OK.

On the Road Again.....OOPS.....In the Air Again.....

      Hello!   Grandma G checking in from Minneapolis St. Paul airport--while enjoying the local chicken and wild rice soup.  I must be in the Midwest since the air is crisp and there is a hockey game on the TV.
      The flight was good.  I bought myself a Mother's Day gift by paying $39 for an "economy comfort" seat.  I was as close to first class as one can get without paying all that money--one seat behind.  This was a good gift.  I had a large window, large seat (the plane's, not mine), quiet  surroundings, and early off.  Great.  Especially after a restless 6 hour sleep experience. 
      There was a little mix up before getting into the airport.  Carole drove me there this AM at 5:30.  As we pulled into the airport for departures I took out my ID and credit card so I would be all set to check in.  Carole and I said goodbye and she drove off.  Unfortunately I couldn't find either card when I went to process my ticket.  OOPS.  A quick call to Carole confirmed that I indeed left them in her car.   The attendent checked me in while I waited for my documents.  Even with the delay there was plenty of time to get through security and into my cozy seat in the front of the plane.  Yeah!
