Total Eclipse Indianapolis!

I've anticipated this epic event since the last partial Vancouver, WA eclipse in August, 2017!  A total solar eclipse Monday, April 8 at 3PM, passing through Indianapolis...

 AND

 hanging out with my family!!  Woo!  Woo!

The Diamond Ring

This photo shows the partial phases of the eclipse along with the diamond ring phase just before/after totality in the middle.

I ended up northwest of Indianapolis, IN, giving me about three minutes and thirty seconds to capture totality. During that time, I had 7 different camera setups running to capture the occasion. It was well worth the drive traveling from Minnesota to get the shot!

REFLECTIONS 

I had a lot of fun observing the eclipse with family.  It certainly was awesome and impressive beyond words. The sky was clear and temperature around 70, though it cooled a bit when darkness set in.  Staying at Kate's house for the event made for an enjoyable afternoon with not having to deal with thousands of people and traffic.  I did see the "diamond ring" for a second and scrambled to put on my glasses.   I thought about people in past years who couldn't know such an episode was coming and must have been terrified by it.  Now days we can enjoy the majesty of heavenly nature.     

This has been a good three plus GeoGram weeks in the life of Gram G.
