Fall Phantom Fun.....Post Views...27, 410

Friday was such a beautiful sunshine day after a week of rain!  I walked the mile to Bi-Mart to buy a loaf of bread....

But I need to back up a day....

On a rainy Thursday the Red Hat Mamas went to lunch in Vancouver at Ware House 23

Located along the edge of the Columbia River close to the I-5 bridge

Our view out of the front window...no land next us

I had "Easy Street Mac".  It was not mac & cheese, but a pasta dish with spinach, asparagus, tomatoes in a sweet cream sauce.  I guess it is an East Coast dish.  It was tasty, but I would not eat it regularly.

After lunch 4 of us went to check out an antique shop in downtown Vancouver. I found a couple items to buy....

We also found a bride faithfully waiting for a good man.....

After another shopping stop at a large thrift store, we headed home by late afternoon.  (I found a couple fun items there, but that is for another post.)

Friday dawned sunshiny and mild.  (At least at 9 AM when I got up.)

These days I'm all for getting outside when the sun shines.  I need to remember those days when the rain persists.

With $5 worth of quarters in my pocket I set out on a quest to buy a loaf of whole grain bread at the local Bi-Mart, one mile up the road.

Walked past a large field being mowed and breathed in the smell of fresh cut grass in late Oct.
Walked past a yard full of dried Oak leaves and breathed in the fragrance of autumn.

Lovely colors..

trying to get colors in the background....

After purchasing the bread I stopped at a consignment store to browse... and to dry off the sweat from wearing a rain coat type jacket in too warm of weather.  I saw items I wanted to buy, but with $2.50 worth of quarters remaining in my pocket, I passed them by.  HOWEVER....I do know where the store is for someday when there are more funds in my pocket.

Back home 90 minutes later I observed that the weather was still very inviting.  After once again drying off my sweaty back I decided it was a great day to clean up the Hobbit garden and back sidewalk.
With all the recent rain and wind the yard and walk were covered in wet leaves. After air blowing the yard and walk I saw the leaves left stains on the concrete.

I know we all have our little peculiar insanities.  Mine is keeping my outdoor space tidy and clean.  (As if there isn't as much demand for my indoor space.)
Sporting an earth friendly cleanser and a broom it was scrub time.

The long strands of the broom were not giving enough tension to scrub off the stains.  I remembered a vegetable brush in the house that had stronger bristles. That worked great, though Gram G had to get on her knees and use "elbow grease".

The walk looked great when all finished....

About the veggie brush you ask?
No worries....
I rinsed it off before using it on my veggies....

(Just kidding, folks....)

By now it was late afternoon and Gram G was a bit tired.  She had been invited to a ladies fund raiser Bunco party that evening. She was so fatigued  she invited Frodo (who was in town for the weekend) to go in her place.
He was not familiar with Bunco, but being a friendly, game-loving chap he was willing to go and enjoy the evening.

He won a "Bunco" and got to wear the pink bunco boa for a long time.  Poor fellow, I think he was a bit confused and disturbed.

At the end of the games he won a "chuni" a lovely cranberry colored large thin scarf from India.  I am hoping he will gift it to Gram G.

This has been a good 7 "fall phantom fun" days in the life of Grandma G.

Clan Life Update.... Post Views, 27,310

Gram G is settling into the "rainy season" here in VC.  It's wet, BUT it is NOT snow....
Yet it makes me want to stay inside my cozy house more.  I do venture out when the sun beckons.
This is a good time to catch up on a bit of GeoLou Schmidt Clan life...with a glimpse of my week.

This photo showed up on my Face Book "memories".  FB did good again on this one. This is probably the last time the GeoLou Schmidts were all together.  We were visiting the Grand Canyon 3 years ago late Oct. We are not in age order....

Gram G has a new favorite Wednesday store....most items are half price...
It's only a mile up the street....

An economical 4 piece outdoor nativity set....bonus...they have attractive facial features...

Time to invest in a fresh supply of toddler toys!!  And a basket to store them.

It's been several years since I've entertained wee ones.. I am excited to have Miss Berklee (grand baby #19) and her folks from San Diego to come visit me in early December.

And in time Rosalie, great grand baby #1, will come to play as she and her folks live in Portland.

With 19 grand kids growing into young adults, I anticipate our family tree will explode into a magnificent, showy, fertile, enduring Evergreen..
(We lived on Evergreen Street for over 40 years.)

Looking for a career change?

How about some horsing around in southern Wisconsin?

Olivia will be having her 12 year old trip with Gram G, hopefully next late summer.  Over the last several months I entertained the notion of taking a few riding lessons so I could ride with her. But reason tells me that would be too much horsing around for Gram G. Now if there is a Shetland pony willing to bear me we might be able to ride.....
