        Early Wednesday, June 24, we loaded up Ted (my car) and headed to the coast. Grandma G had a goal.....get there by 11 o'clock.

Haystack Rock at high tide
Haystack Rock is a 235-foot (72-meter) sea stack in Cannon Beach, Oregon. It is sometimes claimed locally to be the third-tallest such "intertidal" (meaning it can be reached by land) structure in the world, but there are no official references to support this. A popular tourist destination, the monolithic rock is adjacent to the beach and accessible by foot at low tide. The Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal animals, including starfish, sea anemone, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs. The rock is also a nesting site for many sea birds, including terns and puffins.

This has been a good "recalling the Pacific Ocean" day in the life of Grandma G.

"They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:9)

        FINALLY.....                          It is on to Mt. St. Helen's

But first we need to check out the old time schoolhouse and life sized statues. We must come back here to visit sometime.

Also need to buy fresh berries from a roadside stand

And have a mountain park picnic

 We got to the visitors' center after a 2 hour drive.  The kids looked at the volcano for 5 minutes and declared, "OK, lets go find somewhere to swim."  Grandma G declared, "We are going to stay here and enjoy the views for at least 30 minutes!"

Another PNW adventure for Autumn and Grandma G...
We had a few hours on a hot Saturday afternoon.
Lucia Falls is a 30 minute drive from my house.
It is a great park to feel a bit hobbit.
