Last day, Sunday, Jim drove Kate and me on a sightseeing ride east of Durango
Southern UTE Reservation
Chimney Rock National Monument
Preserves ancient homes and ceremonial buildings
of the Chaco Canyon culture...
We did not explore
Pagosa Springs,
Stinky sulfur spa resort,
If you are into that sort of thing!
83 miles east of Durango...
And
Three miles up on a dirt road to...
11,500 Feet!
Air doesn't get any fresher or breezy!
Lunch, you say? This little guy kept coming back and almost jumped on us!
Which way is the wind blowing?
Do I roll to the east or to the west?
Old fashioned runway boarding!
Home again to fresh made chicken soup and warm, satisfying memories!! Thanks, Hoosier Family!!
REFLECTIONS
I had such a fun time in the mountains of Colorado! The altitude was a challenge and a bit alarming one night, but mostly manageable with lots of water, good food, sun screen and hat. A Vick's Vapor inhaler, through Jim's wisdom and Stephanie's provision, was my most treasured accessory! I was gratified to share that time and experience with my sister and extended family! So satisfying to relive adventures by viewing photos and blogging! Thanks, All!!
This has been a good two Geogram weeks in the life of Gram G.
"For the LORD is the great God, the great KING above all gods. In his hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our maker." Psalm 95:3-6
