What Did the Didgeri Do? Post Views.....16,883

He didgeried the Saturday afternoon away at Newport, OR......

And so did WE.....   The Troublesome Trio....
Grandma G, Jo and Nancy

It had been a unanimous vote on Thursday that we needed a day escape to the coast.  So come 9 o'clock Saturday morning we climbed into Jo's trusty 180,000 mile, 1990 something, clutch shift and headed.....east.  "Jo, where you go?"  On the way west to the coast she wanted to buzz through her childhood town east of Portland (and avoid city traffic).

First stop at the coast.....Depoe Bay and the world's shortest river.....here's proof....

Devil's Lake....on east side of the  Coastal HWY 101

THE D RIVER (from Devil's Lake)...on the west side of HWY 101, emptying into the Pacific, fresh water mingling with salt water....

A whale of a jawbone.....
A jawbone of a whale....
lower jaw bone of a gray whale

At least 15 feet wide....

Wouldn't want to be swallowed by that great gray guy....

115.3 miles from somewhere....

A stop to catch a glimpse of a whale swimming by......2 miles out.
NOPE.....didn't see him.  But lovely, blustery scenery.

We found our way to Newport..

 And lunch at Mo's...

"steamers" for Jo

stack of onion rings for Nancy....

grilled chili burger for Grandma G--yikes!

PEANUT BUTTER PIE FOR ALL......YUM......
(sorry for the over exposed pic)

 Oh, yah, the didgeridoo dude.....

He MAKES didgeridoos from the stems of the agave plant.
One can make sweetener or tequila out of the leftovers.....
He has some in D, C and C#.... for those who know what I am referring to......
He fills up his mouth with air from his nose and then uses his cheeks as billows.....
This is all rather low on my bucket list....
I did buy a CD from him...professional courtesy....but I will not play it routinely for nap time....

It's down to the harbor
With octopus chasing the escaping diver....

Just chill'in (and stink'in)
and bark'in
and trying to climb on
and pushing off those trying to climb on.....
arr...arr...arr...arr

NOAA ships.....
National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration

Jo has worked on these ships in earlier years...

Time to head home.....missed the turn in Tillamook and drove 20 miles north before turning around to drive 20 miles south to make our turn to drive 2 hours east to arrive home at 10:30 PM, but really 11:30PM considering DST time change that very night.....

This has been a good "what did the didgeri do" day in the life of Grandma G.

"Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and all that move in them, for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah."
(Psalm 69: 34 & 35)
