Tuesday, the last day of January was warm and sunny in San Diego. We were off to a desert adventure.
First Amanda, Berklee and I went to find treasures at a local thrift store.
I found a hobbit mug, a Red Hats necklace,
and a 6 CD set of
Carol Burnett....yeah!!
By mid afternoon we picked up Bill and were driving out to Indian Wells "Frankie's Place".
Built by Lucy and Desi Arnaz
to honor Frank Sinatra.
I knew we weren't in Kansas any more when I saw marble fixtures in the ladies' restroom....
Bill and I had dinner out...
Slow roasted beet salad with pop rocks for tang and zip
Wednesday morning we were off to
Palm Springs....
Yeah, for lefties!!
On the road to Joshua Tree National Park....
desert city
A little Berklee in a big desert...
Joshua tree is probably 100 years
old
This is the Mojave desert
Time to head back to the city amid sunset rays, horrendous traffic (in the opposite direction) and a restless Berklee, tired of being buckled into a car seat. She did great!
We had a wonderful day checking out Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park!

Thursday, Feb 2, Ground Hogs Day.
It's not as significant out here in the west, although this year the PNW is eager to be done with winter. Portland Zoo's hedge hog, FuFu predicts an early spring..
Hanging out with Gerry, Jude and Gemma...
Yummy Pizza Press....
How does one end the day?
Watching Ground Hog's Day. I hadn't seen it before. Entertaining
This has been a good 3 Joshua Tree adventure days in the life of Grandma G.
"The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy." (Isaiah 35:1 & 2)
