Dumplings and Adventures....Post Views....16,097

It's what Grandma G is known for.....dumplings and sour gravy.
Sunday was the day for them....5 loaves of dry bread; 10 lbs of potatoes; a jar of sauerkraut; 4 cans of beef broth; a third cup of lard, cup of flour, 4 tsp of allspice, 4 tablespoons of vinegar...... and one has a meal for 8 dumpling hungry people.....yum....

It's what the Millers and Papa Lou have been waiting a long time for......though, Papa Lou ate only 1/4 of a dumpling.....

We also received a Cribbage Board that day.....the start of a long lasting tournament.   We played Cribbage on our wedding day and like a good wife should.....I won....

Flowers in January.......NICE....

Tuesday we went exploring....looking for the Columbia River...
we found it with the "I-5" bridge in the back ground.  The weather was somewhat warm that day for January, though a bit foggy.

Practicing "selfies"....

Lou trying some buttered beets..
I am still fighting whatever virus I picked up over 2 weeks ago.   I am "up and about" but not full of energy and appetite....have not been to water aerobics since before Christmas...have not "hung out" with my lady friends since then also.....have not played piano, though I have started two young students.

Lou is enjoying being out here and is leisurely working his way back to whatever is normal life for him right now......he enjoys sitting on the porch, watching TV, short trips to the store, short drives to sight-see, and NAPS.....

This has been a good 6 "dumplings and adventures" days in the life of Grandma G.

"Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him all you peoples.  For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever."  (Psalm 117:1&2)
