Tuesday was Cinco de Mayo.....time to celebrate appropriately....
Zach came over to take me for lunch at his place of employment in downtown Portland...getting there by a ride on the Max.....my "honored citizen" day pass costing $2.00. First we needed to drive across the 205 Bridge from Washington in to Oregon...
Don't Mess With US.....
Just kidding....
Zach works for a Japanese restaurant that specializes and serves only "Kale" (Kalae). The owner and chef utilizes a 3 day process to produce this authentic rice meal.
the red are small Japanese pickles....very crunchy....
when served covered in melted cheese Kale is called Doria....I had Doria with a tender pork cutlet...very tasty...just a hint of spice...
We were treated to a Green Tea flavored ice cream sandwich imported from Japan.....sure glad they have good freezers....
Pot of sauce and fan outside to send waves of aroma to potential customers....
A brisk walk through town to the Apple Store.
Back on the Max for the ride back home....almost, anyway...
This has been a good recalling "take Gram to work" day in the life of Grandma G.
"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." (Psalms 34:8)
