Up early (well, 6:45) on Wednesday for a senior trip. (I haven't been on one since sometime last autumn.)
We are driving up, UP,
UP.....
UP.....
to MT. HOOD..
Main event of the day....ride the ski lift....after a brief time of hesitation and shaky nerves... 12 minutes up and 12 minutes down....
Judy, my friend for the day....
On our way.....
UP and UP....
Passing the tree line....
Coming in for the
turn around....
YIKES....
ground dropped out from under us!!
Little scary going down.....
Time for Mediterranean
buffet complete with salads, carrot/ginger soup, polenta.
AND yummy desserts...
Gotta make a snowball
A last look at the snow on the mountain..
(I wouldn't mind snow if temps stayed at 70 degrees!)
On to another adventure...
A drive through the Hood River "Fruit Loop"
View of Mt. Adams, fruit trees and valley...
Wisteria vines....
huckleberry ice cream
My siblings and I played around on one of these pump organs at our Uncle Mike's farm in northern Wisconsin 60 years ago....
"Packers", but NOT
Green Bay.....
Final adventure of the Day....
Drive along the Columbia River...
TO......
One of the Beauties of the PNW....
Home by 6:30 that evening..home before the loudest, longest crack of thunder I have even heard since moving out here. Thought I was back in the Midwest....
Slept well that night after a "summer day" on the mountain, through the valleys, along the river and sprayed by the water fall! A full vacation in one day....
This has been a good "on the mountain" day in the life of Grandma G.
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." (Micah 4:2)
