WHAT??.....Post Views...24,029

What are those beautiful, red carpet people doing on Grandma G's blog?

Why, that's my grandson, Devin, and his prom date, Rachel!!

They are also members of the Christian youth band,                 "Without Excuse".

Devin is lead guitarist, singer and MC of the 5 member band.  Rachel is
faithful, dedicated singer, all around cool!  And Devin's lady.

The band has released a new CD.."Clearly Seen"
Devin wrote one of the songs, but I have not had the pleasure of hearing yet.
Way to go, Without Excuse!!
Grandma G loves you!!

WHAT is that mess?

Earlier in the week Gram G thought she would go all out PNW and make her own homemade walnut milk.....

I don't drink cow's milk cause of lactose issues and I don't drink all the varieties of "non-milk" milks cause of sea salt issues.  When I saw this recipe for homemade walnut milk I figured it is just what I need....well, maybe want.  There are times when a bowl of cheerios sounds really good.
One starts out by soaking 2 cups of walnuts in water from 1 to 12 hours.  Draining them, then blending them with 3 cups of water, 1 tsp. vanilla, a dash salt and 1 Tbsp. of honey (optional...I chose not).
It tastes kinda like vanilla flavored watery skim milk.  I actually don't like vanilla flavor.  Maybe nutmeg?
Will I enjoy this batch?  Probably not.  It's been sitting in the frig for 4 days.  It did go well with a bowl of oatmeal mixed with raisins and walnuts and ginger spice.
Will I make another batch, flavored with nutmeg?  Probably not. I will mix my walnuts, raisins, almonds, choco bits and cheerios into a homemade trail mix, find me a trail to hike and chomp away.....
Oh, the recipe forgot to include to make sure the bottom of one's blender is screwed on securely, with no leaks spurting out and vibrating the counter so much it knocks a spoon on the floor, causing a sudden crack like the sound of glass splattering.  YIKES!
Sometimes it's not good to leave Grandma G home alone.

WHAT are those cheeky ladies up to now?

It is good to get up in the morning because one never knows what adventures lie ahead that day.....
This one started Tuesday after water aerobics while we were relaxing in the hot tub.  My friend, Julienne, who heads up a red hat group, had asked me awhile back about playing music for her "fairy picnic" later in the summer.  Today she asked if I was free to go with her to the park and observe the set up.  I said, sure.  Another friend, Jo, rode along as well.

We checked out the pavilion for the picnic at Lewisville Park about 20 miles away.

Also gazed at the "rhodies".  The PNW is known for rhododendrons.

Views of the Lewisville River

Soon we were on our way to enjoy some Hobbit habitat.

Battleground Lake.....
a "crater" lake formed from exploding lava.
I don't know the inlet or outlet of the water in this lake....
Lovely.....

Do I have a gig for the fairy party?  Probably.  It is in early August but I need to be committed soon.   (not THAT, " committed")
It is good to get up in the morning because you never know what adventure awaits you....

And this?
Springtime high tea with the Red Hat Mama's

A Red Hat mama can wear a purple hat during the month of her B-day or during April, the month of the Red Hat B-day.

This has been a good 6 "What??" days in the life of Grandma G.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;  I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10;10)
