OF Earth and Space...

    AKA THE GEOGRAM WEEKLY

I woke up at 6AM Saturday thinking I was back in the Midwest.  For at least 20 minutes lightning and thunder rolled through, powerful enough to rip the sky apart. Washington very seldom gets thunder or lightning.  Mid afternoon they rumbled through again.

At 12:22 PDT I witnessed history being made as our two astronauts launched from America to the International Space Station on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket funded by  private enterprise.

This is exciting and appropriate for me as I am coming off a month of space exploration with Captain Archer on the spacecraft, Enterprise.
It is probably good that I'm done with my adventures in space. Thursday I discovered this lovely creature on my deck wall.  I saw an ambassador from a far away galaxy, dressed in his elegant robe ready to signal his antennae to make first contact with me! (He was there most of the day...and then I forgot about him.)  This is absolutely marvelous...the camouflage complete with the black streaks and specks found on the siding! We have a wondrous God!

Saturday, May 23 Jake and Keys came over to clean out the rain gutters...

This was much needed as an 8 inch plant was growing there....

Inside, Deb and Micaela helped wash walls that have lacked cleaning for almost 8 years. We finished 2 rooms. My project the next several weeks is to wash all my inside walls, which is the entire house...hopefully.

Wednesday, I went for a late evening walk.  The day had reached into the high 80's but the air was cool at that time as dusk was setting in.  The park was quiet and empty except for an occasional person quietly doing their thing.  In the distance I heard a faint high pitched barking sound that may have come from a coyote heading out for dinner. It was a restful, relaxing time, though I so startled a young rabbit nibbling in my front yard, it left a puddle on the sidewalk.

Thursday's temperature rose to 90. The morning was cool and sunny so I spent time working a bit outside.
I came across a green frog posed against a boulder.....well, for perspective, he's the black dot in the shade of the right foot of Mr. Gnome. They are tiny tree frogs that sound like creatures from a rain forest.  Oh wait, we are classified as a temperate rain forest...Oh My.

Rain drop jewels on the succulents.
Snails finding their way to wherever they are going.....

I was suppose to be in Indianapolis for Memorial week.  I called my sister there to see if I arrived.  I didn't, so I guess I didn't make it.  Planning now to visit there late October.  I have a trip with granddaughters coming up in August.  I am counting the weeks!

What does one do on a totally rainy, self isolating, talking to no one Saturday?  How about homemade turkey pot pie with homemade butter crust?  Haven't made pie crust in years...it was a bit messy and satisfying.  Don't know if I like the butter version or the good ol' lard one.  Very yummy....

Self Distancing Week 8

AKA THE GEOGRAM WEEKLY....

This week (Thursday, May 14) started out a bit unsettling.  I've been watching too much news, real and false and reading too many virus related articles, real and false. I felt a bit like the world was caving in on me.  And what will the future bring?  I called a friend and after chatting for almost an hour I felt better.

Question:  What have you been doing lately?
My response: Virtually everything.

Thursday was also the 54th anniversary of my
wedding to Lou.  That did not contribute to the uncertainty.  Though we divorced at 44 years I still relish the family we raised.

My favorite picture of our young family....

Friday was a new day!  In the morning,  friend Megan came over to social distance, bringing me flowers and lemon poppy seed muffins.  We visited in the
back yard while conversing about many things.

In the afternoon friend Kahana and baby Pomai came over  to socially distance walk around the neighborhood.  She blessed my heart by stopping frequently to snap pictures of flowers and decorations!

Saturday was a great day for a 3 mile walk and to check out some of the local wildlife. I think it's a well fed stray.

Sunday, I was up before 9 AM and the cloud show was worth the getting up!

The most graceful cloud formations I have ever seen!  I can see the angels' wings as they are swiftly gliding through the sky!

Can you find the angel in the clouds?

I sat on the back deck with my morning tea and soaked in the beauty of God's creation!

Welcome to my back deck outdoor living space!

Stop in and have a sit with me sometime!

My little finch community likes to sit in the tree tops.  The fellows sing heartily, hoping for a sweetie!  Maybe there will be another new family yet this spring.....

Monday was the 40th anniversary of the
Mt. St. Helen's eruption.

I still find it intriguing to commonly find rocks and stones full of volcanic "pits",  little holes.

We've been having a lot of rain the past several weeks.  But also "sun breaks".  Tuesday evening we had a lovely sunset break!

Wednesday morning I went to pick up a couple tortilla chips I dropped on the kitchen floor last evening and neglected to clean up.  Under the smaller one was a black heap of crawling creatures.  They for sure were not practicing social distancing!!

Check back in a week for the next chapter of my life story!  Find out about life in Park Falls, Wisconsin.

Beam Me Up Scotty....

AKA THE GEOGRAM WEEKLY

A Wonderful Mother's Day!

I enjoyed a very pleasant Mother's Day.  I went for a walk around the neighborhood at 9 AM before the heat set in. The park was livelier than I have witnessed in many weeks.  Folks were cutting grass, repairing steps, walking, riding bikes, one fellow was loading a moving van, some were chatting with self-distancing, birds were chirping.  The only problem was that I was walking in kilo meters rather than miles. How did that happen?

Here's a bit of PNW loveliness and cuteness....

These white flowers always remind me of a candy I liked growing up...they were chocolate wafers with little white round candies on top.  Can't eat them now cause the little white round candies would get stuck between my teeth...how about a promise of Christmas to come?

The church I attend was back to drive-in service that morning.  Though I didn't go I watched live-streamed after my walk..

Later in the afternoon I drove over to Deb's where Angie hosted a Mom's Day BBQ for the family. It was a great time of outdoor visiting. We made a perfect 10.
(Saturday I made potato salad and chocolate chip cookies to take over....made me feel like a mom again:)

The pink, super moon Wednesday and Thursday nights.....The air was warm, the frogs croaking.  All that was missing was a lake and you....

I signed up for a free month of CBS Access.  I can catch up on all the past years of Star Trek adventures that I have missed.  SO....don't you dare ask me what I have been doing. There is a lot of space to cover in one month's time.  Live Long and Prosper/Beam me up/Watch out for the Dominion/Stay Away from the Borg/shut down the EMH/Where no man (or woman) has dared to go....

I need to get a hair cut....my hair has already added 2 lb to my weight....

All my family are well and thriving.  I pray that is the same for you....I do pray for those I know....
I sense a rain gutter cleaning job coming up this summer....

I was scheduled for a home visit to Indianapolis in late May/early June.  That has been postponed until late October.  I am still planning a
Gram G/grand daughters trip for early August....

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?...No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in  Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 8:35-39
