Thursday brought with it my long anticipated "Portland Spirit" river trip. I signed up for this several months ago. I had not seen Portland area through a river view. I was excited to sail the Willamette and mighty Columbia rivers; to learn more about the proximity of these rivers and their bridges to Portland and Vancouver. I still hadn't gotten a clear understanding. The Willamette flows through Portland. The Columbia flows between Portland and Vancouver, then continues on to the Pacific Ocean.
This voyage was advertised as following the paddle prints of Lewis and Clark when they first explored this region. That we did as the narrator retold their story. But of more impression to me was the viewing and history of the 14 bridges that connect travelers throughout Portland, Vancouver and the surrounding area. Actually, we passed under 9 bridges, but there are 14 in all....2 of them that connect Portland and Vancouver I have crossed over several times.
We walked the metal ramp down to our boat....the smaller one....
the Willamette Star....got our group photo taken....

(come back for more seafaring adventures of the day)
This has been a good seafaring day in the life of Grandma G.
"Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be a large number of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh, so where the river flows everything will live." (Ezekiel 47:9)
