First Day in San Diego...

Wednesday after a long day of flights we arrived at the San Diego airport around 9:20PM.  Austin and Ryan were excited to finally be in California!  Bill picked us up to drive us to the car rental.  From there Angie drove the 28 miles to Gerry and Gretta's.  We only got lost the last few blocks.

The "cousins" were all up about 6:30AM.  The boys were out checking  the sunshine and the trampoline in the back yard.   Grandma G got to sleep in until 8:15.  By 9AM Uncle Gerry AKA Mad Scientist, had brought home a supple of dry ice to give the kids experiment experience.  After which we headed to the pool for some real California living.

Lunch time found us walking the plank....I mean the pier.... to Ruby's. We met a few new friends on the way.  We sort of thought they were for the birds, if not the birds themselves.

The greatest excitement for Austin and Ryan was running on the beach with Jude and into the ocean water for the first time!  Ryan said it looks like the water goes on forever!  They found their first sand dollars and even observed a live one.

sand or tiny clams?

The highlight of my day was enjoying a belated B-day cake with everyone and receiving a necklace from a company whose profits go towards restoring the lives of children caught in human trafficking.

This has been a good "first day of vacation in San Diego" in the life of  Grandma G.

"The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land." (Psalm 95:5)
